For any spicy food lovers out there, this is THE place to go in Auckland.
Their hand written menu on the whiteboard changes depending on what's in stock and season. But what doesn't change is the quality of the food - or the number of people trying to get a table in this Spicy House.
Their signature dishes include chilli chicken and deep fried ribs. Yes, a whole rib rack deep fried. Don't try to be a hero and order extra spicy - you might regret it in the morning.

So grateful for this recent discovery. I just love those places that you don’t expect to be nice because it doesn’t have a fancy sign and does not look very aesthetically pleasing on the outside or the inside but ends up being AMAZING…. that encapsulates Spicy House. It’s always pretty busy in here no matter when you go, I saw people waiting for it to open on two occasions. The dumplings melt my heart. Also the egg fried rice is so good. There are so many options I always end up on the verge of tears having to just choose a couple of things. I wish I could have one of each. One day… This place is great to bring the family if you have young kids because the atmosphere is really casual and is always quite loud in there so it doesn’t matter if your kids haven’t taken their Ritalin.
The sign on the window- 'Spicy Food Expert'. True. The food is delicious. I shared Spare Ribs with foil , pork hock, spicy (boneless) chicken. Asked for hot. Eye watering. What a fantastic assault on the mouth, I was doing a Louie Armstrong impersonation with an invisible trumpet. You'd have thought we had just climbed out of a sauna or run an ultra marathon in the sahara with all the sweating at the table. You can choose mild if you prefer. The waitress did say or warn us their hot is HOT and we are chilli buffs. She was right. I had a new chapter of Dantes Inferno burning in my gob. Our table a quartet of sweating hummers. Delicious.
