Sri Pinang, on Auckland's K'Road, has been standing proud on that spot for more than two decades - not a small feat in Auckland's ever-changing restaurant scene.

The secret to their success lies in the unbeatable combination of delicious Malaysian specialities (their chicken with plum sauce and the beef rendang are a must-try), fantastic prices, warm and welcoming service, and BYO at $1 per person. It's no wonder that this place is bustling with diners every day of the week! Booking is highly recommended, especially for weekend evenings.

This place is great!  Loved the food.  Nice location and lots of off street parking as well.  The service was just amazing.  This place is busy all the time but the service is always with a big smile. Highly recommended to everyone.

I love this place.  The restaurant is not that big but the food and service is absolutely amazing.  Everytime I go there they are always busy!  That is because the food is totally worth your money.  If you don't understand what the menu says (as it uses Malaysian names) the staff are always there to explain exactly how the food will look like.  They always serve with a smile no matter how busy they are.  Great place, highly recommended to everyone :)

love the food here... reasonable price... :)

Went here last night and the food was delicious. Had wontons for entree and curry chicken for my main. The best thing about this place is that the corkage is only $1! The food also was served very quickly and the service was friendly and prompt.

LOVED Sri Pinang on our first visit recently - went with friends who go all the time, we didn't even have to glance at the menu before the owners had chosen their specialities for us to try. The food was delicious, packed a great chilli punch, and there was so much of it. Will be returning again very soon!

Walked in starving - walked out stuffed. Roti curry is awesome as is the Beef Rendang but you can't go wrong here. Everything is cheap and the staff are friendly and attentive. You can even BYO to keep the cost down.

Sri Pinang has the best Malaysian food in Auckland- I love the variety they offer and the food is to the highest of quality, they also provide friendly and efficient service especially considering how busy they get! I highly recommend it!

Having been going to this amazing place for over 10 years decided it was time to try something new. The claypot chicken is delicious!! Try the roti curry as a vegetarian option instead of standard (chicken) and that’s another good way to mix it up. Everything’s good, you can’t go wrong!

I love Sri Pinang - it's definitely one of the best spots to eat on K Road. The food is great and authentically Malaysian (as far as I can tell with my limited experience of Malaysian cuisine). Expect generous portions and a lovely atmosphere - there's always an interesting buzz about this place. My only criticism is that the decor could be improved - the overall experience would be better if there was a bit more colour and some ornamentation. As it is, the interiors are a bit on the drab side - the flat muddy pea green walls don't go with the vibrantly flavourful, spicy food. Eating out isn't just about great food - the surroundings should match and help create the overall impression. Other than that small criticism though, it's a fantastic place to get a reasonably priced meal.

This seems to be one of those places you have to be introduced to - I must have walked past it a number of times and it always looked closed but once a friend showed me the error of my ways, a fantastic Malaysian restaurant was revealed.  It's always busy at lunch times so be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes but it's worth it. Most food on the lunch menu is around the $10 mark and portions are BIG! The laksa or mee goreng are my staples and the roti is divine if you can fit that in too. As a bonus, the owner is fabulous too! Closed Mondays.
