Boasting some of the biggest ice-creams in the country, the Te Kao local store is the top-most dairy in New Zealand and a stop for many tourist buses on their way to Cape Reinga. Their huge scoops are every kid's dream, and the only problem is whether or not you can finish your ice-cream within seven minutes before the bus takes off without you.

If you think you're up to it, try out their infamous 'whoppa stoppa', which is 6 scoops high, and no mean feat, even for the best ice-cream-eaters among us.

When on a road trip to visit Cape Reinga stopping off for a monster ice cream is a tourist attraction in itself. This is the northernmost dairy and their ice creams are all about quantity! Chow down on one yourself or be sensible and share a big one before it melts into a sticky mess all over your hand.

A place that has an ice cream serve called the whoppa stoppa is quite rightly top of the list for biggest ice creams in the country. Now some of us wouldn't even try to consume that much ice cream but for ice cream fans it's a pretty spectacular treat. It balances at 6 scoops high which is pretty impressive and is probably best eaten with help but you will certainly enjoy the experience!
