Miss 8 always finds something new to see or do, every time we visit

I'm not sure which cafe at Te Papa this is referring to, so I'll review my favourite.  I really like the upstairs cafe.  It's more a "coffee lounge" with tasty snacks.  It has a nice, warm, cosy atmosphere and is great to sit down and relax for a while before hitting more of the wonderful exhibits Te Papa has to offer.  It's not super cheap, but hey, it is at one of New Zealand's major tourist attractions, so I guess that's to be expected!

The cabinet food is almost more appealing than the earthquake room. Must visit.

So convenient to have the downstairs café in the museum itself so you don't have to cross lanes of traffic to get to Courtenay Place for lunch. Lots of fresh, delicious cabinet food and lots for the kids (fries as a treat!). Sunny and spacious. Recommended.

Te Papa never fails to inspire me and I'm always impressed by the commitment of their friendly staff who are ready to welcome you at the door. I love coming to this place of learning where cultures merge together - experience your own if you're a local with the amazing Awesome Forces exhibit, or check out our natural flora and fauna on the same level, or be blown away by the beautiful Marae. I just saw the Andy Warhol and the Impressionists exhibits here last weekend (both exhibits for the student price of $20) and both were very impressive. Colourful and highly recommended for the kids too.

Te Papa is such a great museum! Perfect place to learn all sorts of things about this country. From our ancestors, to the settlement, volcanoes and our native flora and fauna. Best of all, this massive museum is free! They have souvenir shops, cafes and guided tours. I especially love the different exhibitions Te Papa shows every month as well. It’s definitely one of the highlights in our capital city.

Currently showing Andy Warhol

Te Papa may be one of the most trafficked tourist attractions in Wellington, but it's certainly for locals, too. Whether you come in for a special exhibit like Game Masters or Warhol: Immortal (on now!) or to test your earthquake preparedness skills with a walk through the Earthquake House, you'll be sure to learn something new-- and have fun doing it. Te Papa is also especially helpful for those new to New Zealand like myself. See a bird on the waterfront and want to know what to call it? You'll find its taxidermy counterpart on the first floor. Come in on an afternoon, or stay all evening on Thursdays when the museum is open until 9 pm.

No photos allowed inside, but a man who can say this in 1968 is a genius in my eyes. Well worth the $17.50 to see this exhibition. It's the largest Andy Warhol collection to tour the world.  There's a handful of super famous pieces that you'll instantly recognise (The Madonnas) and heaps more that you probably haven't seen.  Being able to get up close with Warhol's work is amazing! Having only ever seen digital versions of his work, you imagine it to be quite flat, but there's so much layering and texture with his work. Learning about the process of how he made the pieces too is amazing.

Superb :)

Love Te papa, always have. Great exhibitions, lovely clean and easy to walk around. Lots to see and read and participate in. Have a cool games exhibition at the moment and a fun 4 player quiz behind the main desk. Make it a fun, learning date!
