Nestled in one of Canterbury's most stunning spots, along the roaring blue Rakaia River, is Terrace Downs. You can rest your head at one of the best luxury accommodation spots just outside of Christchurch and play a decent round of golf on the country's most challenging high country golf courses. Ranked as one of the top five golf courses in New Zealand for its layout, the course is known as one of the country's most challenging.

    For an amazing experience of the High Country, Terrace Downs is more than just a golf course and luxury resort. The Terrace Downs cafe has a spectacular fire place and is open from breakfast through to dinner. On the menu are some excellent lamb and beef options (as you would expect from the High Country) including a Prime Canterbury Ribeye Steak which comes served with fries and side salad,
 or potato mash with steamed vegetables and topped with sweet onion jus. Delish!
