Learning his craft serving government and VIPs in top hotels in Beijing, Le Zhong Yin set up The Beijing in 1996 and it has been a Newtown destination ever since.
Serving up Northern Chinese food, it is hard to visit The Beijing without having their incredible Peking Duck pancakes. Wafer thin pancakes, thinly sliced spring onion, cucumber and deliciously savoury slices of duck in a rich sauce.

The uninspired decor of The Beijing belies a Newtown institution since 1996. The restaurant serves Northern Chinese food, and is best known for its Peking duck fare. If duck isn’t to your taste, it’s also known for its pork in Beijing sauce. The Beijing can cater to big groups and is often packed, so it pays to book on popular nights.
Delicious and affordable Chinese, eat-in (lazy Susans to complete the experience) or takeaway - with an entire vegetarian menu! I ordered a tofu sizzling pot (beware: it really it sizzling on the tongue) while friends couldn’t get enough of the mock duck pancakes. Licensed and BYO - perfect for a group dinner.
