If chunky chips are more your scene, the Black Harp is where you need to be! They’re hand cut and made with love, they even leave the skin on which I love every now and then. When they’re served with a burger they come in a cute little fry basket that looks like it’s actually been cooked in it! It’s small touches like that mixed with a great atmosphere that keeps me coming back to the Black Harp.

One of the pies they have here is a smoked kawhai pie with a kumara top; it is absolutely delicious! I’ve actually been craving it for a while now so I might stop in there again soon! On Wednesdays the Black Harp have two pies for $20, which is such a good deal considering how tasty they are.

The Black Harp is an Irish pub that welcomes the frost-bitten wanderers of the outdoors into a warm and inviting atmosphere for you to melt into; this is another restaurant with a fireplace that will win you over in seconds. They now offer giant roasts for only $19 with ‘all the trimmings’ and you can add on dessert for only $5!

The Black Harp’s take on fish and chips is a little bit different; fancy could be another word to use! First of all, they don’t batter the fish (which I love sometimes!), it’s pan fried and seared to perfection. And I have three words: Lemon Caper Butter. It’s also served with a slaw and hand cut chips. It sounds mouth-watering, and for only $25.80! They do still cover the classic beer battered fish and chips, but I personally want to try this pan fried version!
