Civic is a really awesome place to come see theatre stuff and have a good sit down and be entertained for a couple of hours. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Such a fun place to bring the entire family and experience a really fun and entertaining evening.
This venue is truly amazing, it is so beautiful. I went there to see Queen and it was absolutely magnificent. The staff were so nice and friendly and everyone was in such high spirits. The seats were comfortable not that there was much sitting to be done. But over all this theater is so great for shows and all the artifacts around the place are so beautiful.
I went to a Film festival with my brother last week at the Civic theatre, and boy has this been beautifully restored and is truly magnificent! I loved the colours, the decorative touches and the twists and turns that had bars, places to buy a drink, and other clever touches abound! It feels like you have stepped back into a more glamourous era - like the 1930s or late 40s early 50s! It would definitely be an atmospheric place to go on a date to a movie or show (or maybe just a drink!)
Last Thursday I went to watch the Royal NZ Ballet perform The Sleeping Beauty. This was my first visit to The Civic Theatre as well as to a Ballet. When you step into the foyer you are greeted by red carpet, huge staircases and a design similar to that of a Maharajas Palace. This theme is continued into the theatre. Inside the theatre, the lighting gave the appearance of a starry night sky. I only managed to take one snap before being advised that photography was not allowed in the auditorium which is a shame because the show was spectacular! The dancers were amazing, costumes fantastic, (if only I had the figure for a tutu!) set changes were seamless and the story was surprisingly easy to follow. Thanks again to Localist for providing such a wonderful prize.
