I think it is easy to forget how lucky we are to have such a world class cinema complex in the capital. When a good release, or a big release, comes to town, Embassy Theatre is the place you want to see it. The whole complex keeps getting better and better as well, it feels like every time I go there they're added a new bell, whistle, cafe or bar section. Fantastic!

One of the best theatres in Wellington, a city known for its abundance of premium and art house cinemas, The Embassy is truly a classic. Built in 1924 and recently refurbished, The Embassy's art deco elegance puts you in the right mood for a truly great movie-watching experience. Make your way into the expansive main auditorium for an opening or a screening during the NZIFF; the sheer size of the main screen will astonish even more than the architecture that surrounds you. But don't discount the two new deLuxe auditoriums accessible through The Black Sparrow; while obviously smaller than the main screen, they provide intimate viewing in plush leather seats, and are worth experiencing in their own right.

Definitely a must do in Wellington. The Embassy Theatre has hosted a-list premieres for movies on the scale of The Hobbit but even on a regular day it gives off these ornate vibes that make you feel all ritzy. A beautiful cinema.

Nice old refurbished building.  Comfy seats.

Beautiful theatre and yum snacks!

One of Wellington's best cinemas, world class quality sound and picture! You know if it's fit to host premieres such as the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, then it's got to be good! This world class cinema is an attraction on it's own. With so many choices in Wellington for cinemas, all about the same price, you'd be stupid to see a movie anywhere else in the CBD.

In the age of on demand and streaming if you make it to the cinema you want it to be an experience. No other cinema can compare to that of The Embassy. Dolby Atmos filling up you ear drums, huge screen, comfy seats and being able to have a beer while you watch your next favourite movie makes it an experience worth braving the elements to get to.

There is nothing more relaxing than going to sleep to the faint pitter-patter of rain falling on the roof. Rainy days however, are not as comforting. On a day when it's grim outside I like nothing more than immersing myself in the newest Hollywood creation. The Embassy Cinema seems to make movie watching that much more spectacular. With it's elegant marble staircase, large selection of drinks and snacks, and large comfy seats it doesn't get much better. A day at the Embassy includes curling up eating M&Ms mixed with freshly popped popcorn, while enjoying someone else's fairy tale life. A day at the Embassy, is a day well spent.

you have heard of babes in arms sessions at other theaters for mothers to bring their babies. The Embassy has a night Just for knitters to bring their knitting and knit while watching a movie. the lights are left low so you can see just a little, a ticket includes a drink, movie and spot prizes. so far its every 2nd month but is really popular the first one was sold out! 60+ knitters in the back theater was great fun

Fantastic cinema....comfortable seats and it does not feel 'mass market'
