For a casual, cool atmosphere and a drink or bite to eat with mates, The Mayfair is a great choice.

Situated on Devon Street just down the road from the TSB Showplace, The Mayfair is a great place to stop by for pre-show nibbles; or enjoy the comedy and music shows that The Mayfair has to offer for a one-stop evening out.

The Mayfair is open for lunch and dinner and also has an incredible dessert menu. Its prices are pretty standard and the food ranges from gourmet pizzas to salads, platters and char grilled meats.

The Mayfair is probably one of the top bars I’ve been to in New Plymouth. Not only do they have a great pizza menu which is great to share with friends, but they do amazing cocktails, and have a good atmosphere when the nightlife crowd rolls in. They also have a house DJ on the weekends that provides some great sounds and entertainment! They’ve also hosted some performances such as Six60!

Mayfair is another one of New Plymouth’s bars that are popular with the locals and is an absolute must ‘to-do’ if you’re stopping for a short visit. The weekend brings many locals to pack the place out for drinks then it turns into a club past 12am with a disco ball and everything! Wednesday is a great night to go as all the burgers are only $10 and they are massive!

If you like a bit of variety in your choices, The Mayfair has four different salads to choose; Thai beef, the classic Caesar, Scallop and Bacon, and Roast Beetroot. I myself have never have a roasted beetroot salad and that sounds very enticing as it’s served with feta and couscous! You can also add chicken for $5.50. All four I’ve mentioned are priced under $20, which is great for a restaurant quality meal. Also check out their Clean Eating Menu, you won’t be dissapointed!

The Mayfair is the most recent place I’ve discovered that does great pizzas, and at such affordable prices as well. This place also doubles as a night club on the weekends; it would be perfect to come in on a Saturday night with friends for a pizza date then dance the night away afterwards. They have this pizza there called Pizza of Pi with tandoori chicken, cashews, minted yoghurt and mozzarella, if that doesn’t sound mouth-watering I don’t know what will!
