Friday avo drinks at The Mex are a treat... and boy can you drink. I don't think I've ever seen such an impressive array of drinks; and they have the best tequilas! The food ain't half bad too :) special kudos for the awesomesauce decor!

    This is so much better than nearby Mexican restaurants and on a much more low key, smaller scale. It can be very noisy if there’s a group in but otherwise it’s an authentic gem.

      Hola! The Mexican Cafe is a tried and true excellent night out. Unbeatable atmosphere, delicious Mexican food and drinks to die for. My recommendation is to get there before Happy Hour finishes (at 7pm I think)- order some jugs of Mango Margarita and a bean dip and enjoy these with friends while you choose from the great menu. Table can be scarse as this is a popular place! And you need to be a certain amount of people in your party to be able to pre book a table. But this is not a problem- just order your drinks and entrees at the bar while you wait for a table to free up, and soak up at the atmosphere. My mouth is watering just writing about it! Special note- The Entertainment Books often have buy one get one free vouchers for the Mexican Cafe.

        Mexican cafe has the best mexican food and a great range of beverages. The cocktails are amazing and can get a jug option which is great. Great Mexican feeling too

          You would be forgiven for walking past the Mexican Cafe.  A tiny little doorway with wooden stairs is all that is on show and I must admit based on that view it doesn't look very appealing but if you can get past the appearance you'll be glad you did. Upstairs is a cantina style bar, outside deck and 2 indoor rooms.  Once seated you get given the obligatory tortilla chips, dip and menu to mull over.  The drinks menu is pretty comprehensive.  Lots of tequilas, cocktails and beers on offer but if you are like me you'll be going for the food! Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, quesadillas and much more.  Which is my favourite dish?  I'd have to insist on trying them all again before making a decision like that ;)

            Awesome atmosphere, inexpensive meals which are delicious.  Staff are extremely helpful and always around to serve.  A little bit of a wait on a Friday night as everyone goes there to 'party' but worth the wait!!!  Drinks are yummy too and happy hour goes off!  You have got to try it!!! A little piece of Mexico :0)

                  The happy hour specials here are great. The margarita jugs are really cheap... like 9 dollars each or something.... and the happy hour food specials are also pretty decent. I really like the peach margarita, and the passionfruit one - they don't taste artificial like at some other places.  The best thing about the Mexican Cafe though is the great atmosphere. The decor rocks (they have the Virgen de Guadalupe above the bar, and lots of cool Mexican day of the dead stuff all over, cacti etc) plus salsa. Totally awesome and different from any other Mexican restaurant/bar I've ever tried :)
