The Pony Club is a basement-like room that is dimly lit located in the heart of Auckland City. There are several plush booths lining the mirror-covered walls; it’s cosy; the sort of place that can accommodate quiet conversation or a wild party. Great DJ's playing various music that will get you on the dance floor.

Pony Club has been going strong for many years and although I have not been in a long while I still remember days passed of amazing times had in here, dropping it low and just generally flailing around uncontrollably. It plays mainly mainstream top 40 hip hop songs here which is cool if you’re down for that. Definitely a fun place go to with the girls. It is right by the strip club though so don’t get confused as to which door to go into.
This place is definitely one of my guilty pleasures. You would not catch me saying "let’s go to Pony Club", I always wait for someone to bring it up then pretend like I am uninterested but go along "to be a good friend". This place is also a handy scapegoat if you are planning to go to the strip club or the brothel that are located right next door, just say you were trying to find Pony Club and went in the wrong entrance. Pony club is located underground (no/little signal - very annoying). Had many great nights in this club, the music genre is mainly hip hop so ensure your group is down for that if you are heading this way. If you head to the left of the dance floor on the back wall there are some stairs, if you go up them then you will see a huge wall mural of My Little Pony which is amazing and great for selfies, as per my fantastic photo.
When you find yourself in town at 1.00 in the morning, then head downstairs and check out the Pony Bar. You'll need to be dressed up though, else you won't get in as they have an extremely high dress code. It's lots of fun once your eyes have adjusted to the light and the DJ is one of the best in Auckland. Try the flaming shots, the bartender really knows how to make them!
