Arguably the cutest cafe in Auckland, The Shelf serves up excellent coffee, great food off the breakfast and lunch menu, and a mean selection of blended drinks (including the infamous Iced Mocha) that will make for a hard decision to pick just one.
The Shelf, aptly named for the shelves lining the walls full of eclectic bits and bobs that pose a worthy distraction to have a look through while you wait for your order.
They also carry a range of teas, including their homemade Lemon Honey and Ginger, as well as fresh juices, so no matter what mood you're in you'll find something yummy.

This is my go-to haunt in the city to meet up with friends for coffee. The decor is unique and there is so much to look at and the coffee is great too. The Iced White Chocolate and the Oreo Monster are my current faves, but I reckon you could literally go for anything and the choice would pay off in your favour.
I love The Shelf! It is a cute and quirky cafe which is named after the little box shelves along the walls which are home to cute decorations, toys and figurines. These are a great conversation starter and super cute! But Shelf is not just a gimmicky, trendy cafe, the coffee is actually some of the best I've had in Auckland. They offer a range of gourmet coffees which include tasting notes and the countries of origin, and I would always pick up one of their flat whites to go, even if I didn't have the time to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. They also have amazing hot chocolates which come dis-assembled, with a little jug of hot milk and a Whittakers Sante bar to melt. Over all it is a very cute, trendy and fun cafe to visit, with friendly staff, but the gimmick never overshadows the quality of the coffee, which is amazing!
