The Suter Art Gallery has moved temporarily while the old Suter building is being refurbished. It's now on Halifax St opposite the Library, and entry is free every day during the renovations. It's open daily from 9.30am to 4.30 pm and the cafe is just as good as the old one, and the shop still has beautiful things.

On an rainy day or any day the Suter Gallery is the Nelson region’s civic art centre. The gallery usually has a main exhibition as well as something local., The Suter has a significant collection of local, national and international art that includes work by John Gully, Toss Woollaston William Gear, Ivon Hitchens and Bryan Wynter and a significant collection of works by ceramic artists of national and local renown . There’s also a lovely cafe and gift shop.
