This a nice place to come if you like crispy, home-made bases that make pizzas extra tasty. Start with some nibbles and then tuck into the smoked salmon or halloumi & rocket pizza - you’ll be more than satisfied. And of course, neing in the wine village of Wairarapa, there’s plenty of good local wines on offer to pair with your pizza.
Lots of different teas, a variety of tasty, generously portioned brunch dishes and warm atmosphere make this Martinborough cafe very popular for Sunday brunch. The lambs fry dish, home cured salmon and bacon, and Mexican style eggs are not to be missed. Consistently good coffee and there’s plenty of space for big groups.
Not to be confused with The Village Grinder in the same area, The Village Bakery and Cafe also offers good food at reasonable prices. Grab an iced coffee and a hearty sandwich, there’s lots of delicious bakery foods and gluten-free sandwiches for those with gluten allergies. If you’re a bit hungover, this could be the place for you as this is the home of the Wai Pie, pies are made fresh everyday and include tasty flavours like red wine and venison and butter chicken.
