Twenty Three do excellent breakfast dishes including my favourite Eggs Royale - a tasty potato cake with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce - I substitute the bacon for avocado which makes the dish extra creamy. The sardines are delicious too - panfried on toast with gremolata. The menu carries on through lunch but there are also salads and sandwiches available in the cabinet and they do a mean pecan slice with lots of gooey caramel.
Most people like getting their sun in a park, or at a beach - I have to admit I like sitting on a pavement somewhere and soaking it up. So, perching on these crates at Twenty Three while I finished waking up was a pretty nice time. Good food here too, and a courtyard out back if you'd rather not hang out with traffic while you're having your (excellent, Supreme) coffee.
We arrived at Twenty Three at around ten thirty on a Sunday morning. The little cafe was already buzzing and we were lucky to get a table in the second room. We ordered the Boston Beans and the mushrooms with pesto and kale. Both were exceptional, the beans were smoky and cheesy in all the right ways and the mushrooms were light and delicately flavoured. The coffee was great and the smoothie refreshing! Recommended.
