Twisted Tomato is an excellent local restaurant in Pt Chevalier. The neighbourhood eatery is the home of passionate foodies chef Thomas Walden and and partner Tamara Wright.

The cosy, comfortable restaurant is equipped with beautiful glassware, a quality coffee machine and artwork quirky enough to be of interest - as well as great food. On the blackboard you'll find a range of items that are a little unusual, such as the tasty and tender deep fried rabbit leg. They take bookings, as well as walk ins.

Awesome recommendation for a great Pt Chevalier restaurant Manas.

Best cafe in Pt Chevalier hands down. Great organic coffee. Plus they do almond milk. The food is faultless, beautifully presented and free-range/organic too. Smiles are free too and these guys dish those by the dozen. Nothing else in Pt Chev comes close.

Awesome coffee & the nicest team!

The new menu us fabulous, fresh and modern. The service was a little off but I understand there were new staff. Really promising first ever visit. l I hope it flourishes.

It's a great place for drinks.

Our favourite for Saturday or Sunday brunch! Perfect local that we think all of Auckland should get along to....but not too much because we wouldn't mind it all to ourselves. Great food - both the day time menu and the dinner menu. These guys have got it right, so long may they be there! The image attached is of a couple of starters from their new evening meal.

I went here on a recommendation from Localist's Ed and foodie who knows all the best spots out west and has been here several times. Twisted Tomato is a delightful place with great food, that didn't disappoint. I chose the mushroom risotto with pea pesto truffle oil which was perfection and just the right consistency. I followed it up with the chocolate mousse which was mouth-watering and a delectable chocolate hit. I loved the pretty presentation of the food and the service was friendly and efficient, would definitely go back.

I've been to Twisted Tomato twice for family birthdays and it's a great little neighbourhood eatery that deserves a special mention by Localist's ed. That's because the food here is simply excellent. Their sirloin steak is somewhat of a signature dish and is dressed in different ways each time there is a release of a new seasonal menu. I haven't yet had the pleasure of trying their summer menu but I'm excited to see a wide range of delectable flavours have made their way on there - all treated with the kind of twist (tomato-style) that I've come to love and expect. New dishes that are making me ravenous with hunger include smoked duck carpaccio for starter and Hawkes Bay lamb rump with baby cucumber and smoked aubergine with yoghurt and dukkah for a main. And if you can't decide from the great fare on offer, I highly recommend their mushroom risotto - it's a crowd favourite and deservedly so!

The new cafe jewel in Point Chevalier's crown. A perfect example of how owners who care make the difference - hospitality pros Tamara Wright and Thomas Walden have created a delightful neighbourhood dining experience. Twisted Tomato is quirky in a rustic and relaxed way, but delivers where it matters - on the plate. My scallops arrived in a coconut, pea, black pudding and crackling combination - sophisticated tastebud tickling that really works.

Two words: crayfish bisque. A real delight for a French and seafood loving foodie. Can't wait to return for more.
