A great selection of fascinating and unusual movies, documentaries, operas etc. Very knowledgeable staff (who can come across a tad sophomoric). Also have movies organised by director’s name for those wishing to have their own festival at home!

I love the hipper smarter worldlier than thou attitude of a good film nerd! Especially given the breadth of their existence has usually been augmented vicariously through the lives and experiences of fictional protagonists in the cinematic medium.

I love Videon and I'm stoked it has moved to a more convienient place along Dominion Road.  The selection of art-house films and festival documentaries will make any cinema buff drool.  And they have something for everyone (I may have been guilty of hiring a terrible horror sequel starring the Arquettes recently.)  Great service too from knoweledgable staff.  Hooray for Videon!

Other than its not-really-convenient-to-anything location halfway down Dominion Road, it's hard to fault Videon. A mind-numbingly brilliant selection of films - particularly impressive on foreign films, classics, art house fare etc. - sensibly organised and with staff who are actually knowledgable and passionate about films.

I just enjoyed my first Videon experience. Great dingy shop, with a wide range of films, documentaries, and TV series. The staff were knowledgable and friendly, and the prices seemed pretty decent. I never go to the large chain video shops because they are usually always awful, but I'll happily be popping back here.

Great selection, well organised and a good location. My movie watching life would be much less enjoyable if it weren't for Videon

an excellent selection of TV series, movies, music doco's , kids movies. YOu name it, they probably have it. Lots of festival films, not to mention their hearty selection of Criterion DVD's.

Easily the best selections of DVDs at any video rental place. From your latest block-busters to the most obscure foreign films — these dudes will have 'em all! And they also have the largest collection of VHS movies, specifically catering to the hipsters. It's also worth noting that the staff do not mock you when you hire dance-themed movies or trashy 80's rom-coms (my wife loves those types of films...) I totally recommend Videon. Go there. Now.

You're not going to find heaps of copies of the latest blockbuster here - Videon caters to the full range. Huge foreign, doco and genre selections on DVD and a massive VHS archive they're hanging on to for harder to find stuff. Sadly no online catalogue but they're happy for you o call about any title.

If you're wanting something outside Hollywood movie cliches, then Videon is for you. They are passionate about independent films and their extensive range of collection will astound you. A little less relevant now that people have the ability to download movies, but still, their knowledge cannot be beaten.

Found this video store while at school (recommended to the class by our history teacher, would you believe!). They have a great selection including many titles you'd be hard pressed to find at some of the other chain stores. If you're in the mood for a movie but can't think of what you'd like to pick up, try taking a stroll through Videon's aisles - you might be pleasantly surprised at what you turn up. For any history teachers who might be reading this, they used to stock all of Simon Schama's historical TV series...

I love those Simon Schama documentaries! Especially Rothko, and picasso. Amazing. He has such a cutting, yet exuberant style. Staccato grandiloquence.
