Waitarere is a wide sandy beach located 14km north west of Levin. Cars can drive directly onto the beach and on sunny days you will see lines of vehicles parked up with families enjoying a range of activities including swimming, fishing, surfing and beach sports. There are lifeguards on patrol during the summer months.
Surrounded by forest, there are some great walking and cycling tracks nearby along with numerous holiday homes and a holiday park.
Check out the blue pole which marks the spot where the historic Hydrabad ship wreck is buried under the sand dunes.

I spent many summers growing up at Waitarere Beach, it's a great spot for families and the small township is buzzing in the summer months. Spend the days relaxing on the beach, swimming or launch your boat for a spot of fishing! It's a great atmosphere with lovely people, sunshine and picnics on the beach, what more could you want?
