Waterfront Auckland is leading the revitalisation of Auckland's inner city waterfront in order to deliver the true potential this area has to offer. In August 2011, Waterfront Auckland opened new public spaces and restaurants in Wynyard Quarter, along ...
Wynyard quarter is a lovely walk from down town. Across the water and over the bridge, past the cafes and eateries then along to the water hole and the playground. There is something for everyone and we loved that we could stop for an ice cream along the way. This is a fantastic day outing and coming from the shore you could add to the fun by catching a ferry over to the city.
I went here for the first time during their one year anniverary weekend and wow was i amazed! it is a beautiful walk from the bottom of town along the cafes and waterfront. The food places look fantastic and the little watering hole was fantastic, even on this nice spring day children were playing in the water. The playground is so nice and offers good challenges for a wide range of ages. A great free day out for the family.
This is an impressive city space which has transformed Auckland city. An industrial contemporary space which is family friendly without being childish. An art space, a soulful meeting spot from which to admire Auckland's harbour beauty this cityscape is highly recommended. This is superb city planning bringing Auckland city into the future!!
Visited this area the other day with a friend, as I hadn't come here since the renovations for World Cup last year and must say I'm quite impressed. The layout and design was well designed and modern, but also had a clean feel to it. There was a playground for children to play in, a small shallow pool which I saw people sailing their toy boats in, and a skate park too. The city free bus route was handy too- bus stop just a few mins walk from the restaurants, bars and pubs in Wynyard Quarter.
There is often stuff going on down here from silo cinema to holiday activities for the kids. There is a great Park for the kids to play on and a paddling pool for the summer. Some good eateries (tho don’t bother with the curry place) if you want a bite to eat or a drink by the water on a sunny afternoon. I keep on coming back
Go All Blacks!!! If you don't have a ticket for the final, this will be the next best place to be. You have four main viewing areas – The Forecourt, The Main Stage, Shed 10 and The Cloud. Shed 10 gets my pick. Photo shows an elevated view of Queens Wharf taken early Monday morning after the ABs beat Australia in the semi, complete with Cruise ships.
