Chia and soy and hemp, oh my! It’s easy to get in a flap when thinking of going organic, but it doesn't have to be a chore. We’ve found five of the best purveyors of organic food and drink who will gently set you down the path to righteousness (and also feed you some damned good food!).

Jam Organic Cafe - Takapuna reviewed by Helene R.

Definitely a favourite spot when we’re in the mood for eating large and eating healthy, Jam has a fantastic chef, great menu items inspired by seasonal produce and excellent coffee. It’s a little hard to find if you’ve never been before but well worth the effort.

The Organic Mechanic reviewed by Sarah M.

No doubt you are feeling a little worse for wear after a long week at work or perhaps a Friday night on the town. The boys at The Organic Mechanic are brewing up a storm down at the La Cigale French Markets and make the most delicious organic smoothies to kick start your weekend. Not only have they won me over with their amazing smoothies but the boys are possibly the friendliest faces on the block - I hear they even give out free hugs on request. Consider me a smoothie convert!

The Unbakery Summer Street (Little Bird Organics) reviewed by Charlotte R.

Little Bird is perfect for vegan’s and vegetarians. Everything is meat free and also gluten free. Try the raw falafel plate - it has so many different taste sensations on it it is hard to describe. I love the superfood cacao smoothie and the sweet treats are divine - my favourite is the chocolate tart but the raw cheesecakes are exquisite too.

Wise Cicada reviewed by Sarah I.

Tucked around the back of Newmarket, Wise Cicada is a sprawling health store and eatery that will have you feeling good as soon as you step through its doors. Tuck into their breakfast/lunch buffet ($25, including beverage), or keep it simple with a smoothie and vegan cake or salad from their well-catered cabinet (their coffee's great too!) Then, hit the aisles to pick up all sorts of eco-friendly household goods.
