Choose from four fresh tantalising seasonal salads or a daily soup creation, as well as a blackboard-style menu. All the green goodness in their salads looks like good brain and energy-giving food to me. The mantra here is fresh, local, simple and tasty. Delicious juices and smoothies back up the coffee and just in case you need carbs, there’s a selection of baked pastries.

A city day eatery offering a choice of four enticing, healthy, substantial, seasonal salads. Designed to be a salad on the go or a quick bite to eat in.

New kid on the block, Albion Canteen, part of the FG Smith Eatery in Ahuriri and Opera Kitchen in Hastings family, is a welcome newcomer to Napier's café precinct. Perfectly located in the business-end of town on ever-evolving Hastings Street, it's just off Marine Parade. A light menu suited for a quick brunch/lunch and an eclectic mix of residential, business and the occasional tourist make it a fascinating place to drop in. With efficient and friendly staff this place is a great local fit in the CBD. Serving Allpress coffee and one of the best flat whites I've had in a long time, Albion Canteen hosts delicious counter food of savoury and sweet pastries, fresh salads and a wall menu of soups, sandwiches and breakfast options. My absolute favourite is the vegetarian sandwich of roasted mushrooms, butternut, Edam cheese, spinach and walnuts - grilled.
