Ban Mai Thai has being around for 10 years and specialises in Thai Isan cuisine. This is
North Eastern Thai food and is influenced by the harsh climate of the area. Hot and spicy flavours tempered by sticky rice and fresh crushed herbs. The region boarders Laos to the north and Cambodia to the south and interaction with these countries over the centuries as had an impact on the food style as well.

Ban Mai Thai now has a new owner and chef, both hail from the Isaan region and will be keeping to the traditional flavours of the region.

This place is the place to go if you're after amazing vegetarian Thai food. The food is super flavoursome, with the spicy options not being for the faint of heart. The fried rice here simply cannot be beaten, and the atmosphere is relaxed, making it a perfect date-night destination. It does get busy later in the week though, so watch out for that!

Tucked away on Vivian Street this South East Asian beauty provides tantalising flavours of ethnic beauty. Perfect for a date, Friday night B.Y.O or even delivery on a Sunday night.

I wish I’d found this place sooner. Tucked away on Vivian St. next to Vic’s School of Architecture, the wooden structure adorning Ban Mai’s exterior is as charming as the food created inside. The noodles here are amply sauced, with a pad thai to rival my all time favorites from back home. Vegetarians will be delighted to find that almost every rice, noodle, or curry dish can be made to order with vegetables and/or tofu in place of meat.

I think the place is owned by a family, and they're really friendly, happy to advise me on various combinations of food. It was gusty as usual so the warmth was very welcome. The fried rice was great. So was the fish. I highly recommend the place!
