Baylys Beach is a long remote and rugged beach located on the west coast of Northland. Just a short drive from Dargaville, the beach offers numerous activities for both families and thrill seekers including surf casting, quad biking, horse trekking and coastal walks. Cars and motorbikes can drive onto the sand and there is a golf course and holiday park located nearby.

A popular swimming spot for local residents, the powerful waves and sudden changes of tide make it hazardous in certain conditions.

Take the walk up the steep surrounding sand cliffs where you can grab a stunning photo.

Baylys has a bit of something for everyone - paddle in the white water, surf the big waves, drive on the beach, do some net fishing or scramble up the sandy canyons. The beach is massive so you’re bound to find your own private spot somewhere. Just be careful in the water as there’s a strong undertow and life guards can’t patrol the whole beach.

Bayly's Beach is a wicked place to muck around. Grab a boogie board for some sumptuous surf action or take a stroll along the clift tops and check out the grand canyon-esque views. I love this place because there's always something fun and free to do.

Rough and rugged is the name of the game at this favourite west coast beach. Bayly’s Beach has some of the roughest, strongest water I’ve ever experienced. It’s totally exhilarating but please don’t go out farther than you can handle. Unfortunately there have been some nasty drownings here in the past. Grim stuff aside, there is awesome surf here, a long flat beach for cricket or a 4WD and steep sand cliffs you can stumble up for epic photos and views.
