Have you ever tried real bagels hot from the oven? The latest of Al Brown’s projects, this place makes bagels and only bagels by hand in their massivve wood fired oven. Get them with toppings to go with coffee, or prepacked to take home and enjoy. The kitchen is open so you can see the entire bagel making process - it’s pretty magic
Best Ugly Bagels is a brand new bagel shop that offers you the option of either picking up a warm half dozen or grab a filled one on site. I opted for the TAB option - basil, avocado and tomato which was tasty and filled a lunch sized gap. I like what I see, and I’ll definitely be back when my Montreal bagel craving needs to be seen to.
Best Ugly Bagels is my new addiction. I have only been once and had the King - lox, capers, red onion and cream cheese - it's a classic and my favourite combination. It was glorious. A woodfired, crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside, bagel with the salty/creamy/tangy topping - heaven. I will be back in tomorrow to see if I can persuade them to do a non-meat version of the Yodi but if not will be happy to try the TAB with tomato, avocado and basil. It's a buzzing atmosphere with the open kitchen and service is friendly and snappy - in the best way.
