Bird on a Wire - Takapuna

As Kiwis we don't like to complicate what's already good, Bird on a Wire gets this. Nothing better than a roast chicken sandwich in fresh bread. This eatery on the main road of Takapuna offers an extensive range of healthy salads to compensate for the gravy drenched roll you just scoffed down. Bird on a Wire is licensed and now open for dinner making it perfect for a casual date or glass of wine after work. Bring the kids here or come with friends, with such a simple but delicious menu everyone is bound to leave satisfied.

I'm a regular at the Ponsonby flagship as I live just down the road. On a recent jaunt out to the sunny shore I found myself strolling around Fourtieth and Hurstmere with a rumbling belly. Bird On A Wire was an easy choice and it didn't dissapoint. The rolls here are just as amazing as the Ponsonby Store and there's far more seating so you can take a bit of time to relax and enjoy some chickeny, saucy goodness.

I could nom the tasty chicken at Bird on a Wire all day. Everything about their food is delicious and that even goes for the salads! I'm a big fan of the Banh mi roll though which is Vietnamese and so good! The roast potatoes are another fave too.

Have been here a few times now since opening and have had the greatest service. Not only is it the only business of its kind to migrate to the Shore, but the entire development it’s in is fantastic and a great entry in Takapuna. Great staff and equally delicious food.

Bird on a Wire is my favourite Ponsonby local and it can't be beaten for a healthy and scrumptious lunch on the go - so I was absolutely stoked to see this branch open in Takapuna's new dining precinct Fortieth and Hurstmere. It's set down a leafy, brick laden alleyway off Hurstmere road, the interior looks just as cool as their other branches and the photo wall captures the spirit of Takapuna nicely. The food is also amazing as you would expect from Bird on a Wire - you have to try the Korean BBQ roll that thing is packed with next-level chickeny goodness.

I love Bird On A Wire any time of day so I was stoked as when I pitched up to check out the leafy covered laneway that is Fortieth and Hurstmere for my Friday lunch break because it meant I could indulge in chicken roll goodness. I'm a stickler for a classic and I love the fact that Bird on a Wire serves up a traditional chicken roll, just like Mum made, minus perhaps the delicious tarragon that is part of Bird On A Wire's speciality. The most recent opening in Takapuna is a fantastic addition to their fast-growing Auckland empire and the nook-like eatery feels like it could be straight out of Melbourne.
