At first it seemed odd to cook my own meat on a hot slab at my table however the flavour was truly delicious. I also recommend trying the Mussel Pot, Salt & Pepper Squid and Crispy Chicken. It's a good spot to have an afternoon drink on a sunny day too.

This is my local hangout spot to catch up with friends. The food is awesome and the service is superb!

Came here on a Saturday night as my wife wanted some stonegrill meals for dinner. Reservations were easily made over the phone. However, I read quite a few reviews on this place before we came so I was quite apprehensive but we were blown away by how good this place was.Service - Everyone was polite from the manager all the way down to the waitresses. Prompt and very friendly/helpful. No fault here tonight. One thing that really surprised me was the manager asked one of the waitress whether she needed any help. That really brought my view of their service up a notch. The waitress who served our table was impeccable and offered to bring the eftpos machine to our table to save us the trouble of walking over to the bar.Food - We ordered 2 stonegrill. I ordered the 400g rump steak with fries and garden salad side (you get 2 sides) while my wife got the seafood meal with mashed potato and steam vegetables. The steak was nicely seasoned while the seafood was fresh. The taste of the mains were great. There was definitely enough to go around. My wife said the size here is bigger than others she have tried but the steak wasn't as tender (might be because others serve other cut of meat).Value - 63.90 for 2 stonegrill and one beer. Not too bad really.Atmosphere - Its a bar but wasn't that noisy. The eating area was quite suitable for family/couples.Overall - Was pleasantly surprised by our night here considering the reviews I have read around the web. I guess they might lack consistency or bad luck perhaps. Based on our night here, it was great.

It was a Tuesday night, and we were not expecting to see many people about in local New Lynn, but Black Salt was bustling with patrons. Each one of us (4) had a meal to remember, the muscles in particular were outstanding, and a bonus for me (it was my birthday) the desserts were half price. Definitely can recommend the sticky pud with caramel sauce! Service was really friendly, food wonderful and the atmosphere was great.  Only one slight niggle...there was no music playing but the buzz of people made it less noticeable :) Deb

The stonegrill dining and standard menu are great, I dug into a great plate of fish and chips.  I do miss the pizzas though! Great bar atmosphere without being too loud to have a good convo.

Went for the first time on a Saturday Night, was better inside than I had expected. There were loads of people so it is obviously popular. The menu is extensive when plenty to suit everybody. Food was quick to come out after orders were eventually taken- however the waitress was apologetic and explained they were under staffed. We will be back!

Went on a Saturday night, it was very busy for dinner. We made the booking and they rung to confirm as they were full and wanted to make sure our group size hadn't increased - Nice touch! Menu had a big range with their stone grills being the main section of the menu. We enjoyed the food and the live band came on during our meal. Staff we polite and friendly, they informed us that they were down staff which was good to know as she seemed very busy. We thought it was very reasonably priced and good value.

I have been here many times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and also upstairs in the private for hire room for a 30th. Always good food and service! Once we went there for a few drinks and ended up getting free cocktails as they were training new staff!!!

A group of us hit up Black Salt for round 1 of the State of Origin last week. When we arrived, the regular Wednesday pub quiz was underway.  The quiz was well attended with a proper multimedia set up and a good selection of prizes in the form of money on the bar.  Definitely going back there for the quiz night.  Considering how busy the bar was, there always seemed to be a few spare sets as people came in.  There was a few large T.V.'s  placed smartly around the bar, so you would be hard pressed not to get a good view of the game.  The crowd was very friendly and comprised of a good blend of people.

Wahoo - a decent local bar. I found it! Ok so it's still not walking distance from Avondale but it's perfect for a Sundy arvo cath up with pals and they have plenty going on during the week (be sure to check out their comedy night). I'll admit I probably on't arrange to meet friends for dinner here but it's got a good atmos, a nice environment and a good range of drinks. In summer I'd definitely sit outside and enjy some sunny pints with pals.
