Strikes and spares abound at New Plymouth’s newly refurbished Bowlarama on Devon St.

Thanks to a 1.5 million makeover, the fun family day out now offers 16 new synthetic surface lanes, new pin-spotting equipment, new bowls and hire shoes.

On top of this, an imaginative pirate and underwater themed, glow in the dark mini putt golf course offers 18 holes for kids and adults to enjoy.

Bowlarama has been owned and managed by Frank and June Szedlak’s family since they moved to New Plymouth in 1991.

Passionate about bowling, the Szedlaks are excited about how Bowlarama’s new look will extend the game to the next generation.

Come on down and have a go at getting a strike and a hole in one at the same place!

I went and played mini golf again recently and I still love it just as much as the first time. What makes it a unique experience is the glow in the dark theme, and it’s only $12 for up to an hour of fun! Some of those hole are actually really challenging to get the ball into! There are several where you hit the ball into the box and it could come out the right way or just out the way it came in, you’ve just got to hit it at the right angle!

Where’s a place that has game machines, glow in the dark mini putt and bowling? Bowlarama! It’s such an awesome place, and even though I’m not that great at either of those activities I still enjoy a good game or two. They’re open from 10 am so head on down for a game or a whole day!

The new Bowlarama is awesome - especially love the glow in the dark mini golf! Such fun. #shoutme

Mini golf is a great sport for people like me who are not good at any sport. It’s like real golf but less competitive and more humorous when you’re five centimetres away from the hole and you still can’t get it in. What’s more fun is that this mini golf is glow in the dark so it’s even more of a challenge! I’m no Lydia Ko, but mini golf is the one ‘sporting’ activity that I can say I’m not bad at. For a change of scene there’s the famous sixteen lane bowling alley next door that’s also a lot of fun.

This place is heaven for the little ones! With 16 lanes of ten pin bowling and 18 holes of underwater themed, glow in the dark minigolf, as well as arcade games and pool tables, there’s at least 36 reasons to check it out. If your youngster likes to get competitive then there’s little league bowling competitions on offer too. Hours of indoor entertainment!

Bowling has been a favourite for kids for as long as I can remember, and Bowlarama not only has sixteen bowling alleys, but it also features an eighteen hole black light mini putt course! There’s always been something awesome about wearing white under a black light and seeing everything glow, that’s the experience with this mini putt course. If that’s not enough to tempt your kids, Bowlarama also has included two pool tables, air hockey and an arcade games area. Bring out your inner child and spend a day here with your kids, guaranteed to make them behave for the rest of the night!

Bowlarama is seriously awesome. It's perfect for a rainy weekend and you can either battle it out against friends or take young family members along for a fun afternoon out. If ten pin bowling isn't your thing, they have a mind-blowing indoor mini putt course too!

Bowlarama is a must for the whole family. The recently re-furbished complex now has 15 band new bowling lanes and a fantastic Glow in the Dark mini putt course suitable for young and old alike. If you are stuck for something to do, why not go down and try it out. I can guarantee you will have loads of fun!!
