A really cool fun part of Auckland with some unique drinking spots!!

Britomart is a fun place to visit with lots of people and things happening giving it a real buzz!  It's a great place to begin and end a short walk in Auckland.

If you're at a loss for something to do during the weekend why not head down to Britomart and check out this ever evolving city precinct. It's pretty spot on a sunny day and there is a farmers market to browse on a Saturday morning with plenty of cafes to keep you fed and watered. I am keen to try The Store and Milse and definitely want to have another meal at Ortolana. The shopping is excellent with Zambesi, Kate Sylvester, World, Karen Walker and Black Box rubbing shoulders and the Atrium on Takutai has MAC, Kiehl's, Jo Malone and L'Occitane for makeup, body and scents. If you don't fancy some shopping you can while away and hour in the sun on the grass by the fountain - perhaps with a coffee from one of the excellent cafes in the area.

I'm really vibing on Britomart at the moment! Kind of a bummer for parking, but if you work in downtown Auckland there's now actually a decent outdoor space to take time out from the office in. There's even some grass to the right of these rocks! And a bunch of great foodie options in the very near vicinity too.

Britomart is a real treat, especially for one who remembers the grungy old bus station while growing up ... of course that is so last century. Fast forward to the new millenium and Britomart really is the jewel in the Downtown crown. The station offers a funky entrance to Downtown Auckland, and even if you're not a commuter make sure you take a visit along one of the platforms. The old post office is happily still standing and not captured for prosperity in photographs. The architectural features remaining are quite lovely, especially as Auckland dispensed with such a great deal of architectural history during the '80s. Have a coffee and watch the world go by. A nice break from the office or if you're visitor, nice to a smartly used piece of history in Auckland.
