This place is so brilliant, the food here is absolutely 100% a 10/10 FABULOUS!! It's so authentic and flavorful, and clean! The owner is SOOOOOO friendly as well, she is just a gem, we are now very close friends with her!  She tells us all about her business and is so passionate about the food they prepare!! She is just a fabulous woman, and runs a 5 star deluxe quality restaurant!!  I will NEVER stop dining here!

Seriously, if you haven't already been to Bunga Raya, get as many peple together as you can and get to it. This is my new favourite Asian restaurant and where I'm planning all my group dining from now on. Close to the train station, BYO, friendly, helpful staff, reasonable prices for HUGE portions and amazingly tasty food. Sure why wouldn't you? We wandered in on a Wed and were shown to a table not realising how lucky we were. Thursday onwards it get's booked solid. One of the owners sat down with us and talked us through the menu and what we felt like. It just so happened that all three of us are vegetarian so she quickly suggested the veggie curry and the egg tofu that is made fresh on the premises each morning. We ignored her raised eyebrows when we also ordered two starters of veggie curry puffs and spring rolls. She told us that was a lot of food but we thought the three of us could manage it - we couldn't but it definitely wasn't for the want of trying and it tasted just as good for lunch the next day.

For Malaysian style food this place has the goods. Owner is friendly and seats you as soon as you walk in. Must try their hananese chicken rice

Our family has been here alot and always enjoys the experience! I would suggest that you always make a reservation before you go as they are almost always full! I reccommend that you try the Chicken XO its fantastic! (:

Monday night and The Bunga Raya Restaurant is a slammed with a full house and buzzing with chitter chatter. In such a small restaurant and tables jammed side by side this results in tables of two struggling at times to hear. So I ate with few words and wished I had invited a larger group to dominate the show. Bunga Raya lacks a but in the interior design department as the room is scattered with a few simple visuals of Malaysia and lighting seems better suited for a day at the office, despite this the food, service and friendly atmosphere more than make up for the décor. The menu is broken down into meat categories and also boasts a very appetising vegetarian selection. To start we ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, which come served in bite size form. They were well cooked, crispy and very tasty. Then, we moved onto the Peking Pork. Tender and swimming in a delicious sauce I could not get enough of it. Next we dove into the Cashew Chicken and vegetable dish which was brimming with chicken, perfectly cooked veggies and deliciously crunchy peanuts.   Overall we were quite happy with our experience and I definitely want to try more of their menu as there are many dishes that sound amazing. But next time I will just order takeaway.

Fabulous food, great service! Clean and tidy, always busy, and attended by its (Malaysian) owners. Its our little secret in the heart of New Lynn.

Bunga Raya is off the beaten track but definitely worth going out of your way to find. It's next to McDonalds in New Lynn and while the signage and decor is unassuming, the food is delicious!   We shared seven meals between eight of us and we couldn't finish everything. Our favourite plates were the mint salad (for entree), the XO Squid and the Tofu with mushrooms. Our only disappointment was the Mongolian chicken being overly salty.  The service is great and very friendly - quirky and slightly eccentric. The large round tables also make it perfect for big family dinners where you are all sharing. Overall, Bunga Raya is definitely a place to visit!

Had heard about this place before,  which for a nondescript shop in a row in surburbia,  has got to mean good things food wise or something right?  Well in fact it does,  whilst this place is going to win no prizes for fancy decor,  the hosts are unbelievably  friendly and accommodating.   My 1 year old was her normal loud and messy self and they didnt bat an eye ,  in fact the more she did that mortifed my wife,  the more they seemed to be kinder.    The food was fast and very nice,   I cant really comment on whether its good Malaysian or not as dont have a reference point,  but its chinese/thai type stuff which I am familiar with and all good.   Prices a litte on the high side for this sort of things - $22-28 for a main,  but no regrets as the service was there and the servings very big. We arrived at 6 and the place was empty which I thought,  bad sign -  by 7 there was not a spare seat (pretty good for a Wed night)  - booking seem advised -  we didnt but they accommodated (and it was early)     Check it out.

Hidden away off Great North Road around the corner in Memorial Street (just up from ANZ bank and down from the Postshop) is a little gem of a restaurant. I'd heard stories about a great little Malaysian restaurant down here so decided to finally put my money where my mouth is and go down and try it. It was pretty busy and filled with Asians which I always think is a great sign. We ordered a beef curry and a prawn dish. Both were very tasty. Huge portions.  Decor is not flash but the food and friendly service more than makes up for it.
