Additional Information
A great place to visit with small children. I went with my sons' Playcentre - a large group of pre-schoolers and toddlers - and it felt safe and the children were contained and easy to keep track of within the different areas. They all especially loved the dinosaurs and train ride. A lovely big play area outside the cafe too, so grown-ups can enjoy a coffee in peace.
So much to do at Butterfly Creek there is a variety of attractions and a café with good coffee. Buttermilk farm is a stand out, with animals galore including sheep, rabbits and all kinds of birds. Plus there is the chance to hold and feed the animals, always a favourite with my kids. So much to see from dinosaurs (not real ones) to monkeys and butterflies. The Butterfly house is something wondrous. With butterflies fluttering everywhere, it’s a bit like a Disney movie somehow, something everyone should experience at least once.
I haven’t taken him in to see the butterflies yet but my nine month old adored the cuddly creatures at Buttermilk Farm. The wee slice of country in the city is the perfect place for crawlers and pram-bound bubbas on a sunny day. Just pop the waterproof overalls and gummies on and let bubs go wild meeting kune kune pigs, chasing chooks, feeding the friendly goats and stroking the super soft guinea pigs and bunnies. My son definitely preferred the farm over the conventional zoo, as he could play with these animals.
