Our story begins in Vulcan Lane at the site originally known as Kerouac Deli Café which was owned by industry pioneer Chris Priestly. Kerouac was one of the first cafés in Auckland to have an espresso machine imported from Italy.

What a yummy place to start the day. I recommend The Buttie unless you are on a date (the flour from the ciabatta gets EVERYWHERE!). What I enjoyed most about this place though is you can tell the Manager actually likes her job. It can be hard to get good service these days, but at this place it comes naturally.
Whether its the Vulcan lane store or the Ellerslie store they have good eats and good coffee. Service is good too, attentive and polite. Had french toast and coffee and service was quick and it was delicious mm mm. We also had the berry smoothie and a few yummie cabinet items. Will definitely be going back and getting a loyality card hehe
Melba is one of the few cafes in Auckland that could be called an institution. The service has always been fast and friendly and the food tasty and reasonably priced. The coffee has always been especially good even more so now with the launch of the Melba Espresso brand. Now in Ellerslie more and more people can experience the great service, fantastic food and stunning coffee.
