Tasty turkish food for a reasonable price. A bit slow on ordering at lunch though if you are on a tight schedule

Some friends took me along to Midnight Express a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised. The portion sizes were quite large and with a lot of meat, which was surprising seen as most places try and get away with the minimum for about the same prices. I got the Mezze ($25) which was a mix of a lot of stuff off the menu. Everything came with heaps of humus, which was great for most of us.

We were staying across the road at the Sky Grand hotel and decided we wanted dinner somewhere a bit different.  My partner is from USA and there's actually not many Middle eastern eateries in Florida at all. So we crossed the road and on a whim went here for dinner. We were so lucky to get in.   From the moment we stepped in, we felt we had been transported to Turkey.  The walls on one side are brick and old with Turkish and Middle eastern adornments everywhere. The menu was full of interestingly yummy sounding dishes however we went with a mixed kebab- this includes so much food: sish kebab, grilled chicken breast, meatballs and a lamb cutlet served on mash potato with chilly tomato sauce and yoghurt sauce, salad, hummus and tzazkiki.  So very good. I had a Donner kebab.  Both dishes were around $22.50-$25.50.   The service was pretty good.  Fantastic food in a fantastic environment.

Midnight express is a few steps up from the kebab on a Friday at 2am places! They have an elegant smart casual dining room between the skytower and the reverse Bungy on Victoria Street West. Belly dancing on Fridays is just the thing for a dinner out with a difference. Try their Borek for a real treat!

This isn't one of the ones that stick out at you - it's a 'those in the know' places.  This is a hidden gem though since they've just updated their signage might not be for too much longer.  I always get a hummus & bread to take away when either I'm too busy or they are for a quiet sit down and they always give a bit extra - that sums up this place completely.
