Situated on Kohimarama Beach in Auckland, Café on Kohi has recently completed a $200K refurbishment. The result is a wonderfully relaxing venue on the beach for dining, coffee, or to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.

The menu is more usual than the standard with dishes like chicken livers, which is surprisingly tasty and tender. Although there are a few staple favourites that made the cut like porridge for a good ole Kiwi breakfast with coffee.

First time here, have been wanting to come for a long time. Was really impressed, I ate the corned beef hash which was really big! The staff here are also impressive

This cafe really stands out in its presentation, atmosphere, service & food. It has a relaxing atmosphere bang on the beach, almost like a lounge full of customers. It was obvious a great deal of care is taken to put every dish together as both our dishes looked great, and tasted delicious! After looking at the selection of food on display I settled with the hazelnut financier and coffee, needless to say they were great too! The food really is taken seriously to my delight!

It always seems to be busy here which is generally a good sign.  Service is fast, professional and efficient.  They seem to have an abundance of staff scurring around, meaning nobody seems to wait long.  Great coffee of course and good quality snacks - we were just here for takeaways.  Crucially, the staff were happy to deal with special requests and go the extra mile without fuss just for a couple of takeaway customers - a telltale sign of excellence in my book.

Seriously good. A fantastic location and, actually, never that hard to find a park. The range of food on the menu really is spectacular - as well as the 'standard' fare (big breakfast, eggs benedict etc.) there are also lots of unusual things. The potato rosti and Spanish breakfast are both highly recommended. The food is also well priced, the coffee is strong, and the staff are friendly and efficient. What more could you ask for?

Also: I have no idea how my photo ended up upside-down. This was not an attempt at Dadaist surrealism, I assure you.

Great coffee, and a great location.  Just a little upset that a flat white (in a cup not bowl) cost $4.5 now. But at least they are consistent with their yummy coffee!

A Flar white cannot be served in a BOWL thats Coffee and hot milk it would drown the coffee anyway! And at $4.50 they would loose the profit if they gave it in a bowl!

We love coming to this cafe with the kids.  We order takeaway coffees and head for the giant sand-pit just across the road.  Great coffee, plus the cups and spoons can double as substitute buckets and spades if you are a bit disorganised like us.

Cafe on Kohi is on another level in terms of Cafes. It's rather expensive if you compare it to your average cafes, but that's because the quality of the ingredients and dishes are really sublime. I'm a sucker for their Grilled Calamari paired with a fruit shake. I guess being next to the beach I love eating seafood and enjoying the view! Oh and their coffee is really awesome.

Beat the hustle and bustle of Mission Bay and drive/walk on to this cafe instead. Better food than all the Mission Bay cafes put together and much more relaxing. Always busy, but worth the wait. Same owners/formula as Richmond Rd Cafe and Takapuna Beach Cafe I believe.

Cafe on Kohi is hands down the best cafe in the bays...not that it's any great secret. Whether it be a midweek afternoon or brunch-time on a Sunday, this place is ALWAYS busy. While there's not much in the way of competition along this stretch of the waterfront, Cafe on Kohi could easily hold its own on the city's cafe mile. Consistently excellent food and service and great coffee maintain this cafe's popularity and the outside tables are a great place to people watch or just soak up the sun and the harbour views.
