Carriages Cafe

Been at this cafe for the last 2 years. The coffee has never tasted so good. I love a good cup of coffee and now you guys have it! Maybe the next step will be improving your relish or whatever the sauce is you serve with all your meals but that's just my opinion.

This is a great cafe for all occassion be it a day out for the kids, to a business meeting great atmosphere very good food worth every penny friendly staff great service...BUT if you in such for good coffee I'd suggest you only go there on friday or saturday the rest of the days coffee at carriages is a waste of money. My advice have 1 of those girls on coffee through the week you'll have the place pumping cos everything thing else at your cafe is perfect compared to the last owners. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Carriages hire a good coffee maker.

I'm always on the look out for great local cafes that are child friendly. Carriages is awesome, one of the 'carriages' is blocked off halfway and filled with toys (mainly a Thomas the Tank Engine wooden railway) For those who would like a little more peace and quiet with their coffee, there are plenty of other lovely little nooks to sit in. Namely the other train carriage and also the decks which look out to the pond.  Not the cheapest little cafe with $4 for a long black, but it was a super good coffee so I'm happy.  My 4 year old was suitably impressed with his fluffy that had a chocolate silver fern on the top. (and marshmallows of course)

If your looking for a bit of adventure and character, rather than a typical busy trendy cafe, Carriages is the one!  Kids will love it too!!! With a brisk walk through the gorgeous garden centre, you then enter the cafe area - where you can sit inside or move to the deck area where the two historic 1930's trains are set up as tables which you can be seated. They also have a beautiful large deck area overlookign the ducks in the pond!  Really beautiful setting.  I have always thought this place would be awesome as a restaurant! While the food isnt amazing, the setting is and the coffee!

Where else can you go and have a cafe experience in a train carriage. Very cool. Nice food, good service and a great spot. Well worth the drive outside of Auckland for a nice meal

I'd forgotten just how cool this place is with its real train carriages to dine in.  We ventured this way recently for brunch and enjoyed another wonderful brunch in the unique setting of a train carriage. This place is wonderful for a jaunt out of the city into the heartland of Auckland's outer regions.  Kids will love the setting while parents enjoy the wine & food. The menu is big enough to cater for all but not huge.. my fav is the Hash brown tower... very yum and at $16 is pretty good.  Add a glass of wine or bubbly and I'm happy.  The kids love the menu here too. The food is great & service is too.  Well worth the trip!!

Stopped in one afternoon with the kids, had lovely food and a great atmosphere.  The kids loved the fact they could sit inside a railway carriage & go check out the duck in the pond.
