Perfect romantic weekend away setting. The food is divine, the atmosphere absolutely peaceful and a beautiful backdrop of Mt Ruapehu. If you're heading up to Whakapapa for a weekend of snowboarding too, this is a great place to stay.

    Before you head up the mountain for a day of skiing you will need to be properly fuelled. If you've got the style to fit in at the Ruapehu Restaurant in the Chateau Tongariro Hotel then their mountain buffet breakfast will keep you going all day. Start with a bacon and egg stack, followed by a fruit platter washed down with freshly brewed coffee.

      A fancy spot to stay when you’re up the mountain, or just pop in for a meal. We had high tea of scones and French champagne by the fire on a cold day - bliss!

        If you are a snow bunny then staying at the Chateau is the perfect place to wake up each morning and return to every evening to rest those weary legs. Sit down next to the roaring fires and have a cold beer while you share war stories from your day on the slope. And when the weather packs it in then you can splash out with a spot of high tea or massage.
