The Crooked River is located on the West Coast of the South Island between Arthur’s Pass and Greymouth. Flowing down from the Kaimata Range of the Southern Alps towards Lake Brunner, it is named after the erratic path it leads through various gorges and rapids.

A popular fishing spot with an abundance of brown trout available, the river is also a favourite with canoeists and trampers. Treks travel past flat farmland through to more challenging steeper sections, with plenty of spectacular scenery, a couple of tramping huts and some picturesque blue pools enroute if you fancy a swim.
