Every Thursday arvo in the Adfocus carpark, a bit of magic happens. Well, actually a lot of magic happens in the form of fresh and local fruit and vegetables, baking, hot food, loads of cheese, fresh and smoked fish and other goodies, just waiting for you to pick them up.

The Dargaville River Produce Market has been going strong for over four years and judging by the increased number of punters and vendors, it will continue to do so.

If you happen to be in Dargaville on a Thursday then you had better make your way to the Riverside Produce Market. Everybody comes here to stock up on epic produce and get their weekly fill of delicious hot foods and local buskers. If you happen to love kumara (Dargaville is the self proclaimed kumara capital of New Zealand) then you will be right at home here - Just be sure to bring a big enough bag. They can get really big!

Don’t go to this market hungry or you’ll walk away having bought waaay too much. They have an awesome range of fresh veges, most of them are grown within a few kms of town. I love buying my produce here because it’s always seasonal and way cheaper than the supermarkets.

This place is a bustling hive of activity every Thursday rain or shine. I love getting my super fresh produce from this market as the locals are ace at growing awesome vegies. You're particularly in luck if you like kumara, you can buy it by the blimmin bucketload! Last time I bought the most delicious squash I've ever eaten in my whole life. A++ totally recommend :)
