The atmosphere is great and the depot eatery has an amazing style of decor. A really great place for a casual catch up with friends or for drinks after work with staff who are always friendly and food that never fails to impress! Not to mention a great location in auckland cbd right next to the sky tower.
I first found out about the Depot through my very first Auckland's taste festival experience. As a true kiwi girl from the far north I am a seafood lover from way back with a big love of food. I stumbled across the Depot tent at the festival and the first thing I gravitated towards was the delicious and amazing oysters! Amazingly fresh with a tangy it took me back to the days of going and picking them with my dad from our local wharf as a kid. Needless to say I used most of my crowns(coupons to purchase food and drinks) on the Depot tent I was addicted. After that fish sliders, Warahou tortilla’s I was in Heaven. I have been to a lot of restaurants in Auckland city but the Depot for me is the ultimate dinner it has the most amazing food and not just that it has great chefs and service also great selection of beer and wine and even if you are not a seafood lover Al brown and his crew have made a menu to satisfy all so If I was you I would book a table and try it out I promise you will not be disappointing.
Absolutely compulsory Tamaki Makaurau food experience pit stop. 3 types of ice cold oysters as well as clams and sushimi from the freshly shucked bar. Lamb ribs and turbot sliders melt in your mouth all washed down with jugs of on tap cider. The focus is on food here people, after all Al Brown did hail from Wellington xx
There’s a reason this place is always jam packed. Chef Al Brown’s attention to detail and emphasis on good customer service makes Depot an all round great experience. They don’t do reservations but you can put your name on a waiting list. The staff have always been lovely and food is delicious. Highly reccomend the turbot sliders, fig toasties and sugar pie.
The boyfriend and I come here so often that we have our Depot strategy sorted - a couple of freshly-shucked oysters each, followed by a couple of small plates (sliders usually feature), one large plate and a side of potato skins, all washed down with a carafe of their tap wine. Get in early or be prepared to wait, but know that it’s totally worth it!
