My friends and I came to this place on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly busy. Service was prompt, efficient and not too intrusive. We had snacks first (recommend the steak tartare and the crispy pigs ears - don’t knock it til you try it) and ordered some dishes to share. Portion sizes were generous and by the time we got to dessert we could only manage one dessert between four of us. Bathrooms are pretty posh too. Can’t wait to go back.
Went to district dining for lunch and had an enjoyable dining experience. The food was lovely and most of us opted for their $35 special which included a main of your choice accompanied by a side and a glass of wine. I had the crispy market fish with a side of coleslaw which was beautiful. The meals were a tad on the heavy side but it ensured that you left feeling satisfied and full. Most of us didn't quite finish our meals. The service wasn't much to rave about unfortunately but I think it was more due to the fact that they were understaffed.
If sharing is not your style, then don't dine here. But if your mother taught you well and sharing is good with you, then this place is fabulous. The menu is based around dishes you can enjoy as a group and are placed in the middle of the table for you to serve yourself. Great for a couple who always like tasting each other's choices, but would really be fun in a big group where you could try lots of different dishes. Worth booking ahead as it was very busy.
This place is worth it’s metro top 50 status. The Sharing platters are a great idea with brilliant fresh flavoured dishes. The chefs do an amazing job and the service is just as perfect. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable - I like the separation between restaurant and bar.it was great and I recommend it!!!
One of many new, high-end eateries in the Britomart/Wynyard/Fort St areas, District Dining delivers on all the hype and will have you thinking about the meal long after you've left. The crispy pigs ears with Szechuan salt is definitely worth a try, even for those not usually into non-meaty animal parts, and will leave your tongue tingling. Everything is beautifully presented, and pretty much nothing on the menu is boring or bog standard. Auckland could do with a few more places like this!
