    You must have the mushrooms if you come to Dizengoff.  They are so lovely and delicious, it makes me feel all warm and tingly inside just thinking about them.  This place is great for kids as well, take the whole family x

      Eternally reliable and with great staff who’ve been there for a long time, Dizengoff is arguably the best cafe in Auckland. They’ve got a simple menu, but everything on it is a taste sensation. Most particularly the creamy mushrooms. And the coffee is superb. Highly recommended.

        Oh my, how I love their bagels (especially the vegetarian ones) and its certainly a nice change having a jewish-menu where bacon is a no-no. The selection of sweets that they have on their main counter is so tempting too, and if you get up the very steep staircase to upstairs, its normally got free tables up there even if its full downstairs (as it is for good reason). Coffee is good and they do great poached eggs.

          I have been to Dizengoff numerous times and whatever you get is superb! Whether it’s the bene, porridge, French toast or one of their beautiful muffins!

            My favourite is the chicken pasta. Thought it's so tasty and rich I've always had to take it away. It comes with 2 slices of the best french bread you'll ever taste (It comes from Wild Wheat in Mt Eden btw)and don't forget to ask for a pat of butter.

              The coffee here is really good and the staff are super friendly. Worth checking out this cafe. Offers a really interesting food menu, and not too expensive either. Recommend trying the pistachio flavored macaroon, it's really tasty.

                Dizengoff cannot be beaten for an early morning coffee fix! Their flat whites are just perfect - never had a dud one. Also high on the recommendation list are the much talked about Mushrooms on Toast. The Chicken Salad is unusual in appearance but really tasty if you can get past that! Not to be walked past if you are on the Ponsonby strip.

                  Popular cafe in the heart of Ponsonby.  We popped in for lunch at 12pm on Friday and within minutes of ordering, the place was close to capacity.  Being a long open space, the cafe is quite echoey.  Add this to the chatter of the diners and buzz of coffee grinder and it makes for quite a din. There were speakers on the wall so I guess that there was background music, but I couldn't really hear it.  To be honest I struggled to hear Tim who was sat directly opposite me.   The cafe is child and dog friendly.  Just beware that outdoor space is limited and toilets are upstairs so limited accessibility for prams & wheelchairs.

                    The first thing you think when you walk in the door at Dizengoff is “hipsters!”. It’s like you’ve been transported into an episode of Portlandia. Amongst the wait/counter staff ironic mustaches and vintage tees are de rigueur, and the space itself is sparse and cool, like an American diner. In keeping with the name (Dizengoff Street is one of the main streets in Tel Aviv, Israel) the food is Jewish-inspired (but not kosher) and there is a distinct lack of pig-products on the menu - which would explain why there wasn’t a bacon option with the eggs benedict. Along with the standard café fare, there are a few interesting Israeli dishes, and a wide variety of delicious looking counter-food options, including the currently uber-hip whoopee pies. All of the eggs served are free range, and the coffee is uniformly excellent.
