Gold Mela recently moved from their home on 4th Ave to their new location in Otumoetai. One things for certain, the food, quality and experience hasn't changed one bit.
Their Southern French inspired bistro still serves up incredible home made pasta, thin base pizzas, amazing steaks, lamb, fresh fish dishes, and home made desserts.
The cosy dining room is intimate enough to share dinner with a few friends, or just that special someone. Plus you can BYO wine or ask for a drink to match each dish.

If you’re a parent wanting to escape for date night, this place is great. It’s located in Otumoetai - a suburb a few kilometres from the hassles of parking in town. There’s an amazing wine list to match the French cuisine. Keeping it authentic the restaurant is owned by friendly Freddy the Frenchman, who has employed a French chef. I usually order the pan-seared fish with hollandaise sauce or the chicken breast stuffed with mushroom and spinach and wrapped in prosciutto. Hubby also commented on how well his organic eye fillet was cooked too. The dessert list is impressive, but my favourite is the decadent chocolate pudding filled with hot chocolate sauce. YUM.
A good restaurant is based on two things for me - good food and great service. This place has both and the added bonus of one of the best dessert menus I've seen in Tauranga. The presentation is impeccable, the flavours amazing and the staff attentive and efficient. Big city standards amidst the friendliness and convenience of suburbia.
