Hamilton Brooks has opened a "dry bar" within his Nuffield St, Newmarket hair salon as a quick option for women wanting an expert’s touch without breaking the bank. In 15 minutes and for $25 you can get an individually tailored look, be it straightened or curled. If you select a wash, blowdry and style it will cost $40 for 45 minutes

I've been going since it opened (couple of years) and it's always a great experience. The coffee is always good, they are on time and I am always pleased with the cut. The surroundings are great and with the car park building just behind you can always get a park - plus it's a convenient location for me.

When I went for my visit I felt as though these peeps were my new best friends! Super easy to chat to, not judgmental, just put you at ease. I went quite late in the afternoon with a long appointment that went well into the evening but never felt as though they needed or should have closed up shop. Wine and coffee offered. Many mags to read. Amazing head massage. Plus the reinstalled confidence in my new haircut by telling me different ways to style it. Only downfall is the price, but I guess you get what you pay for these days. Well worth a treat down the line again sometime :).

I went to Hamilton Brooks hairdressers on Saturday for a well overdue haircut based on the comments of a work colleague and the whole experience was fab. Karl was amazing, so easy to talk to and he styled my hair in a different way for a change. Reasonable, friendly and fun. I'll definitely be going back.

I went to Hamilton Brooks on the basis of the rave I saw on Localist (bit of an experiment if you like). Past hairdressers have mostly been okay but always tend to miss something - the offer of a coffee, the head massage, the understanding about what you actually want. Not these guys.  They carefully consulted with me - and even each other about what was best for me - beforehand, they kept my water glass filled the whole time, offers of coffee came several times, even the magazines rate a mention! And the head massage - wow. They were also a really genuine, nice bunch of people. I'm going back for sure.

For a while I used to go to Ryder in CBD. Ryder was a great place but the parking was difficult and extremely expensive. I wanted to try somewhere a little closer to home but still had the edge in terms of style and experience. After a recommendation on George FM and realising it was on Nuffield Street, I gave Hamilton Brooks a go. My hairstylist was Karl, a friendly guy in his 30's. Straight away he was able to pick-up the style I wanted and gave me an awesome cut with ease. I've been back there several times, each time Karl has become more adept at cutting my hair, and it only takes 30 minutes for him to whip my hair into shape. The location is convenient and they often work late hours for people who only have time to get a cut after work. The bonus is they also offer you a free class of wine if you're game. What more could you ask for?
