Just recently my grandmother and I had been looking for an adjustable bed somewhat like a hospital bed to help my grandfather get up and out of bed more comfortably, Upon entering the Harvey Norman Te Rapa Store in Hamilton my grandmother, my 4day old baby and I we were greeted and shown which beds would best suit my grandfather, my grandfather was not present because of his deteriorating lung condition (c.o.p.d). We were then sold on a bed ensuring it will meet his needs by a young man Navi. Upon paying for this product we were informed there would be a 3week wait on the bed to arrive and be delivered.. an additional cost of $100 will need to be paid for the delivery and assemble of the bed. We paid. $2149.00 all totaled. Quite happily we waited until the delivery. 3weeks later on a Thursday we got the call the bed had arrived and will be sent out to us on Saturday morning, come Saturday morning the bed arrives, the bed base had missing legs, missing remote to control the bed and also the bed base had multiple scratches on it as if it were in used condition, which also the mover men also agreed it looked to have been used. The mover men were lovely to deal with and got in touch with George at the Harvey Norman store to sort this issue, I then spoke with George and his response was he was too busy to sort this issue at the moment but he will call me back. He has then called me back and asked if I just set up the base in it's as is condition on the floor and used it for the time being until he can work around someone to coming and assembling the bed because they were understaffed that day.. I was not happy about that, putting my grandfather on a bed that doesn't work and moving the heavy base and bed alone as they were still laid up again the wall in the house. The mover guys left the bed how it was delivered(still in packaging). ..after multiple attempts to contact George again on this issue to no avail, I was then contacted by the man that sold me the bed, Navi.. he assured me if it was okay he would come by after work to assemble. I then agreed. 6.30pm Navi arrives to assemble the bed with all it's missing bits but is missing a bar that assists with the base (so he cannot assemble) navi also notices the damage to the base(scratches) he then apologizes for the condition of the base (he took photos) and assured me on the upcoming Monday this issue will be resolved, a new base will be sent out, the old base would be taken away and the bed will be assembled! I was not happy as my grandfather was now left to sleep on a couch until Monday but we made do. Monday arrives and I contact George again (multiple times), he has then contacted and said the base couldn't be delivered that day but will be delivered the following day Tuesday. There was nothing I could do about this issue as I had been told it would be delivered on the Monday, so one more day we waited. Tuesday it arrived and was assembled by the lovely mover men, however when I've tried my grandfather on the bed it was far too high for him to get onto, or sit on. Only with the assistance of myself or my grandmother would he be able to use this bed. I have then called George and expressed how upset I was about purchasing the bed and all the run around that has happened I have then told him the bed is too high for my grandfather and doesn't meet his requirements as we were told it would by Navi the man who sold it to us. George was not helpful to deal with I have then requested that we would like to return the bed after all of these issues and then were told by George we can NOT return the bed. Which I had no clue as to why we couldn't, he then said it will be a lengthy process to get any return on the bed because of its cost and because the bed was in was he called "used condition". I couldn't believe my ears, I was then that upset I then drove from my grandparents home to the Harvey Norman store and spoke with Navi who sold the bed to us about our problem with the bed but he said he cant do anything about it but he put me on to speaking to Ravi and George wasnt avaliable. Ravi sat with me and I told him everything that has happened from the date of purchase to the present date. Ravi has then told me he was willing to return the base $1200 at my own cost for delivery $80. He will not return the mattress at $79p as it was ordered in and if needing to be returned it had to be in the first 24hours of it arriving to the Harvey Norman warehouse..we were not to know if any of this? I dont understand why we could not return the mattress, he has then gone on to say to me, he didnt have to return any of the products we had purchased, But he was being nice enough to return the base because of all the issues we had. I then asked if there was someone else I could speak to on this matter but he has then told me NO, and he was the man that makes all the final decisions for all returns at Harvey Norman.! Feeling quite upset I agreed to return the base and retrieve $1120 returned out of the $2149. We are now stuck with a single mattress in a plastic bag up against the wall in my grandparents home until I can help either sell it online to try retrieve back the $790 my nanna has paid out on this mattress, if someone could please contact me on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Interesting reading these reviews I have a problem with a new leather lounge suit flaking, when I approached Harvey Norma. Customer service first accused me of rubbing something on it, it took weeks and numerous phone calls to get people to come and look at it, apparently not the right people I've been into store in person wanting action and promised I would be contacted on Monday, yet to happen extremely poor customer service

I have had a stalker who used to go to shops and tell shop asst to annoy me that's OK I just love complaing . also stalking is against the law Should I send a cop to talk to harvy Norman . Now may be it was not me he could have been saying **** to that Maori customer in the shop at the time . .I should send in race relations con and it could end up in court. I am white but I would make a very good whiteness . I was a whiteness for the police years ago. . there are a lot of raciest people in Rotorua and it has to be stopped ...buy the way where did you get this idiot from . He is losing you money . you only hired the idiot to make money for the company . as soon as a customer comes in to the shop to buy something he might see a lazy boy .or chair. You have a very high market on furniture because they are slow sellers . or even a $2000 TV set . but as soon as the idiot called him a **** he is out the door never to return. .kiwi hoast says don't bother spending thousands of dollars on advertising to get me into the store I was there and you did not like me i won't be back. About six months ago. I was in the store. One of the staff said something like **** . I went up to the three shop asst saying don't call customers bastards because they become one . they seemed nice people so I did not complain about it. Train your staff send in kiwi hoast you can control your staff you can't control me and what I say against harvy Norman . I have been in retail more many years . ( he might as well be stealing from the till. Because the firm loses a lot of mony by losing customers .I am a nice man but if any body anneys be look out I complain to win . Bye Brian
I bought a lap top from Harvey Norman Manukau. The hard drive failed after one year. Harvey Norman made it as difficult as possible to make a claim under warranty and staff even claimed they didn't know anything about the Consumer Guarantees Act. I don't think this is a company that has any interest in doing the right thing. Harvey Norman probably think they've “won” through revolting customer service, but they are ignorant of the cost of losing a customer for the rest of their life. Please do not buy a computer from these people, I certainly won't make that mistake again.
