After many years it is still some of the best Chinese in Auckland, whether it's take away or dining in, I lust after the lemon chicken.  Made with fresh lemon juice and served piping hot, it's making my mouth water just writing about it! The sizzling beef is spot on, but if you do order that, dine in because by the time you it home the sizzle will have drooped a notch or two, and for spice lovers, the hot and sour soup has a good zing to it. Great family owned restaurant with the authenticity to prove it.

Came here for a family birthday dinner where the  food was pre-ordered. We enjoyed a good chinese meal with a variety of dishes.  None stood out but was it was nice meal. I also have had yum char here many moons ago and it was very good.  There is something special about a good yum char surrounded by friends, especially when its made fresh and there's plenty of variety.

Went here for dinner. Food was a bit disappointing.  The main meat dishes were just that meat. I think I got the beef and spring onion dish and there was hardly any spring onions, only a plate filled with slices of beef and hardly any gravy. The spicy prawn dish that was recommended had no sauce and just seemed like sautéed prawns. Their saving grace was that the manager was our waiter – him and his friend had grown up in the restaurant so they knew it like the back of their hand. He was very friendly and somehow convinced us to return for yum char during the day. We did. What’s unique about Hee’s Restaurant is that their yum char starts at 8am. Most yum char don’t open till at least 1030am. They’ll give you a menu and make it to order. This is great as I hate waiting to 10:30 to eat yum char especially if it’s breakfast. I wouldn’t say their yum char was outstanding but it was definitely better than their dinner menu.  Worth going to if you’re suffering a hangover and having a craving for yum char early in the morning.

Took my work team here for lunch. Good food, love the pork buns and dumplings. Easy to find a park. Service not great but never been to yum cha where it was. But that's part of the fun. Def a good option for a cheap and quick lunch
