I live near this place and have walked past it a million times but decided finally to take a look. The grounds surrounding the gothic house are very well presented and make for really relaxing time look around them. Inside the house there is many artefacts on display, the house has been recently done up  from what I understand and it is really being well maintained now. Only $10 bucks to get in didnt break the bank. Cool old setups of rooms make it seem really authentic. Go take a look at some of NZ history.

I really liked it here, just finished working at the site and thoroughly enjoyed it here! The gardens are lovely and you would never know it was just off the motorway! An old house with character, tradition and historical value. Perfect little spot for a wedding I would say. Seeing the old toys and the traditional Christmas decorations brought a smile to my face.

If you like old houses, you'll love Highwic. Everything about it is creepy and beautiful... the lovely lace curtains, classically-inspired antique Rococo sculptures, dolls and even a slightly wonky, badly stuffed parrot. The garden is also lovely... they've kept the original formal Victorian theme, complete with all that entails... an orchard, a fernery, foxgloves, and great photo opportunities.

Highwic is a old fine timber Gothic house, handy to the CBD with its location in Gilles Ave.  It is a popular wedding venue but is limiting in the number it can play host to so no good for our needs. Elegant and charming Highwic is worth a visit at any time to explore this Victorian gem
