Whether your perfect outdoor getaway is packed of wildlife spotting, camping, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, or a mixture of everything, Kahurangi National Park is a must-visit. New Zealand's second largest national park is pretty as a postcard and the perfect place to bring out the adventurer in yourself.

Weaving through the park, is a network of tracks from the easy to the very challenging. The oldest and the most famous is the Heaphy Track. A number of interesting short walks cater for the day-tripper so no matter your timeframe or tramping skill level there's an opportunity to get amongst the beauty that this park has to offer.

Staying overnight is also an option in one of the huts, and if you're lucky you might hear the kiwi and other endangered fauna in the area at night that call Kahurangi home.

A relatively new national park, Kahurangi is one of my favourite places to hang on the West Coast. It is a huge park (the country’s second largest!), and my favourite things to do there is explore the wild rivers and do some mountain biking.

This place is absolutely stunning and not so well known as some of the other national parks in New Zealand, which I honestly can't understand because it's incredible. The scenery is on point and a beautiful slice of this country that's well worth a visit.
