Kulim Park is located in the Tauranga suburb of Otumoetai. Established in 1950 when the Bureta farm was subdivided to make room for housing, the owners decided to gift one hectare as a recreational space for children.

A popular spot for yacht and boat racing in the 1960s, the park was extended in the 1980s when additional land was purchased by the council.

With a new entrance completed in 1988 with carvings by Whanau Kokiri trainees, today the park is a family favourite with views over Mauao, picnic tables, BBQs, a playground, petanque court and various watersports events held onsite.

With views across the harbour to Mount Maunganui Mauao and sheltered from the predominant westerly winds it’s a truly amazing spot. There are a couple of public barbecue one near the toilet block, another close to the front gate. The beach can be tidal so isn’t the best for swimming.

This is one of my favourite parks in Tauranga. It's right on the water's edge and dotted with trees to picnic under. There's an awesome children's playground and barbeques to use on a warm summer's evening. If you're up for a stroll you can walk along the water between Kulim Park and Fergusson Park, or leave your car between the two and walk to either - there's trees, barbeques and playgrounds at both!

Great well equipped children’s playground overlooking the water at Otumoetai

Great for BBQ’s and kicking the ball around

Wait till the tides out and ride all the way around to Ferguson Park and further. Beautiful views of the mount.
