A man-made lake and reservoir in the South Island, Lake Dunstan is the ultimate swimming spot for blistering summer days.

Renowned for being family-friendly and one of the safest swimming spots in the country, the lake hosts a variety of water activities including boating, waterskiing, parenting, and rowing. For the winter months, there are several ski fields in the surrounding area, all driving distance from the lake.

Also not to be missed is the Cromwell, a town on the lake's shore with a rich history dating back the gold rush era of the 1800s and attributed to by the attraction, "Old Cromwell Town."

A beautiful lake next to the town of Cromwell, Lake Dunstan is an epic landmark, great for swimming and water skiing.

    Loved this spot! It was the perfect place for a picnic on a hot day, it felt like I got all the perks of a beach without the hassle of crowds, and jumping into the lake was more than refreshing.
