For a sweet $20, I can get 25 balls to attempt to conquer the Lake Taupo Hole in One challenge. I have’t one yet - but I keep trying, each visit to this beautiful part of NZ. The challenge attracts locals and international visitors alike, all vying for the prize money and the title of champion. Well worth making an fetrnoon of it.

Set Dad up for a real challenge and get him a couple of passes to the Lake Taupo Hole in One Challenge. Swinging the golf ball into the hole is a frustratingly addictive challenge, and no doubt a golf-loving dad will relish any opportunity to show his golfing prowess to anyone watching. An even better gift will be if he achieves the unbelievable and wins!

A frustratingly addictive hole in one challenge! Not many manage to nail this one, but it's fun trying ti out all the same. Perfect on a sunny day and with a group of mates. A good way to perfect your aim if you are golf-inclined. Try it out next time you're in Taupo - you might get lucky!

So it's not an actual driving range but no trip to Taupo is complete without having a go at getting a hole in one on the floating green and there's also long drive competitions where a laser machine measures your drive into the lake.

The stag do's I have been to in Taupo always involve smashing the c#@p out of a little white ball to see if anyone can get even remotely close to hitting the floating pontoon. There's usually a couple of Happy Gilmore impressions (which are just wildly dangerous) that provide some good laughs too.

You have to try your luck if you’re in Taupo. I’ve never come anywhere close but it’s good fun trying and plenty of laughs if you’re with a group.
